I want to wear a kilt! How do I rent one?

The Fergusons have been longtime customers of Slanj, a kilt shop in Glasgow. Slanj have agreed to drop off and pick up any rental kilts for our wedding at Cameron House to make it as easy as possible for our guests.

How to rent a kilt from Slanj:

STEP 1: Follow the instructions on the self measurement form which can be found here.

STEP 2: Head over to https://slanjkilts.com/ and select “Kilt Hire” > “Hire Outfits”

STEP 3: Select the kilt you’d like to rent and follow the instructions. If you’re not sure which style to wear, the Grey Slanj Kilt & Charcoal Crail Jacket is a great option.

STEP 4: Lastly, email your rental order to Ross Lyall ross@slanj.com and let him know you’re part of he Ferguson group with a drop off and pickup at Cameron House.

If you have any questions or issues, please reach out to Ross Lyall directly at: ross@slanj.com

What is proper hat/fascinator etiquette for ladies?

The etiquette at a British wedding is that ladies keep their hats on until the mother of the bride removes hers, which will normally be during the wedding reception. If the mother of the bride is not wearing a hat, look to the mother of the groom. ;) You can learn more about this here.

Hat, Fascinator or Headband! What should I wear?

This is completely up to you, but fascinators are a bit easier to manage as they are on a headband rather than an actual hat that has to be pinned in. A statement headband is also cute!

Where should I shop for a hat or a fascinator?

Hi! Kelly here—truthfully, it’s not easy to find a hat or a fascinator in the U.S. I’ve done some Googling and found a few sites that have ones I think are nice:

Phase Eight

John Lewis

Etsy has great options! Just type “fascinator” into the search bar.

Do I have to wear a hat or fascinator?

Nope! Not required, but they are fun!
